This streaming service gives you a personalized experience by letting you choose (hence, the name Choice) at least 15 of the channels in your lineup from a selection of local channels and popular networks. Although the price and customization make this service stand out, you’ll only get 25 cable TV channels, depending on where you live. If you like the idea of simplicity, this could be your next live TV streaming service. We’ll go over all of the details to help you decide. This live TV streaming service is $45 per month for 25 channels when you order Spectrum internet (jump down to the internet section to see your download speed options). Just a heads up: you won’t find any TV Choice information on Spectrum’s website as it only shows their cable packages, so you’ll need to call to order. If you’re looking for more than 25 channels, honestly, all other live TV streaming services might suit you more if you’re looking for a cheap cable alternative:
Sling TV gives you 35+ channels for $35 per month (including TNT and CNN) Philo gives you 60+ channels for $20 per month (including Nickelodeon and Food Network) Or if you’re looking for 85+ channels, YouTube TV is $65 per month with most all popular channels
But the best thing about these fees is that they’re all one-time fees. We’re not a fan of the idea of spending an extra $5 per month for 50 hours of Cloud DVR storage, though. (Jump down to the DVR section for more information.) Fortunately, Spectrum offers sufficient internet speeds for any home with members who want to work from home, stream, or game without worrying about the buffering icon. Keep that in mind because Spectrum says after the first year of your service, “standard rates apply.” Spectrum isn’t clear as to how much your bill will increase afterward. You’ll get a few perks with Spectrum’s internet plans. Each plan comes with a free internet modem, and the Gig plan comes with free anti-virus software. Spectrum is an anomaly in the industry because most internet providers charge $10-$20 per month to rent equipment, and it might be the only internet provider to include anti-virus software into its plan. If you need more guidance into which internet plan will be best for you, check out our Spectrum Internet Review. Well, what sets Spectrum apart from other live TV streaming services is that you get to choose 15 channels out of a bunch of local and popular networks to be on your channel lineup (but the representative didn’t specify how many is a “bunch”). In summer of 2021, you were able to choose premium channels, like HBO Max and STARZ, as part of your 15. But we’re not sure now that they have taken down information of TV Choice off of their website. The representative promised 25 channels, which is better than the possible 10–15 Spectrum promised before. We urge you to ask the representative for a 7-day trial to see if it offers the channel lineup you and the family will enjoy. Spectrum TV Choice channels (we believe) you can choose from include the following: Spectrum TV Choice advertises the Spectrum Premium Pack for Choice customers because it’s the best premium channel deal you can get with this service. Five premium channels for $40 per month? That’s a sweet deal. Watch excellent series and movies from HBO Max, SHOWTIME, STARZ, STARZ ENCORE, and THE MOVIE CHANNEL with this Pack. You’ll save $16 per month than if you were to order them separately. You can stream on unlimited devices while at home, and while away from home, you can stream on two. But the bummer is this live TV streaming service is compatible with many devices, but not all. The Spectrum TV app is compatible with the following streaming devices:
iPhones, iPads Android smartphones and tablets Kindle Fire (excluding the first generation) Google Chromecast Xbox One Samsung Smart TVs (2012 and newer)
We think Spectrum TV Choice should include the Cloud DVR storage if it wants to be a competitive live TV streaming service. For $4.99 per month, you get 50 SD storage hours. But 50 hours might be enough if you think you couldn’t possibly record and save 50 TV shows or 20 movies. Just make sure you watch your recordings within 90 days because they’ll erase from your library at that point. Compared to fuboTV, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and Philo, the value of this service is comparably low. Spectrum TV Choice only gives you 25 channels for $45. That’s almost $2 per channel, making it one of the most expensive live TV streaming services. But this live TV streaming service is for you if you like the simplicity of one bill with one service (because—don’t forget—you have to be a Spectrum internet customer to get Choice TV), and you want a guide with only the channels you love.
