Method 1: Button Combinations
Let’s start with the most straightforward method first, holding down a few a buttons to snap a picture of your screen. Make sure your phone’s screen is showing what you want to take a screenshot of first. Position one finger above the power button, and then another finger above the home button. Press both of these buttons down at the same time. You should hear a sound play that confirms your screenshot was taken, unless you have your notifications disabled. If you do not receive the notification sound with them turned on, try:
Pressing the power button slightly before the home button while holding them down.
OR
Reboot your phone and attempt taking a screenshot again using Step 2.
You should be able to see your screenshot among your other pictures, and now be able to share and/or edit them.
Method 2: Screen Swiping
Just going off of the method name alone, screen swiping doesn’t sound like a bad way of taking a screenshot. However, if you knew you had to use your whole hand to do it, that new information might change your mind. This is a method, that in theory, sounds like an intuitive way to take a screenshot, but in practice can be quite clunky and unreliable. This palm swiping feature should be enabled by default, but if it isn’t, you’ll need to turn it on by:
Going into your Settings menuNavigating to Motions and Gestures
Then enable Palm swipe to capture. With palm swiping enabled, you can now take screenshots on your Galaxy S6 using a swiping gesture from right to left with the side of your palm. To do the gesture you must:
Extend your hand as if you were about to chop something with it.Don’t chop your phone in half, but place the edge of your palm in this position on the far right of your phone’s screen.Now slowly swipe your palm from one edge of the screen to the other.
If done correctly, you should hear the notification sound, and have your screenshot placed in the appropriate directory.
Method 3: Easy Screenshot App
There may be some cases where the first two methods aren’t possible for your phone, either because of hardware issues, or software malfunctions. For those situations, there are apps that can handle the task of taking screenshots for you. The one I’ll be talking about requires your phone to be rooted, so please keep that in mind and do not attempt this with a phone that has not been rooted. This app is simply titled Screenshot on Google Play, so that could make it a little difficult to find. However, if you follow the Google Play button below you can download it without the need for searching. Once in your app drawer, you can find the app under Easy Screenshot. From here, open it up and take a look at the interface. Once you want to being taking screenshots, tap Start Capture. Easy Screenshot will guide you through the rest, and afterwards it allows you to edit any screenshots before saving them. Aside from editing, you can share and save from Easy Screenshot’s edit menu.

While taking a screenshot should usually be an easy affair, it can prove to be difficult on the Samsung Galaxy S6.
