Before we go on ahead, I would like to clarify that some of the games on the list may not be on the best looking games on Android or even the best graphics games. However, they will feature HD textures that pop on your high-resolution display. You see, if you have a high-resolution smartphone or tablet, for example, let’s consider the new Galaxy Note V, you will see that some games have blurry textures. This means that the game is not running textures at the native resolution of your device. If this is confusing for you, consider a large beer mug only filled half. You still get some beer, but it would have been better to get the full mug right? Same goes for the high-resolution screens that are mugs, and the textures are the sweet, sweet beer. Note: The best HD games for Android were tested on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone. The games ran fine on the device and no problems were faced during testing. Some of the games will require an active Internet connection to work properly. I recommend you stay near a power outlet or have a power bank while playing these games, they will most definitely drain the battery faster than any other game.
1. Real Racing 3
Electronic Arts has made some amazing videogame franchises over the years. However, I find joy in seeing a top-notch franchise make a home on Android as well. Real Racing 3 combines the best elements of racing simulators and ports them extremely well on Android. Back when the game was first announced, I was skeptical. I had my doubts because making a racing game close to reality on a touchscreen device is a very daunting task. But EA proved me wrong, the game ran beautifully on my 2012 smartphone and it runs extremely well on the latest flagships. There are around hundred real world iconic cars available on this videogame. And these are not just simple representations, the car models are extremely detailed and almost close to reality. The developer has done an immensely impressive job in re-creating real world tracks as well. From Silverstone to the Dubai Autodrome, 12 real tracks are available for you to drive on. The textures of grass, road and even metallic cars are of extremely high quality. The game outputs the visuals at your native resolution and apparently the textures are of console quality. I’ve been playing video games for a while now on consoles, gaming PC and Android so I know when I see a low-quality texture. In this game there is none. Free Version
2. Ingress
This is another HD game for Android but it doesn’t actually use a lot of graphics. What it does is know your location, that’s right your physical location via GPS and then translates it into a video game. This is a very unique videogame that allows you to see where you are in the real world as well as the virtual one. There is a cool story behind all of this, there are the enlightened who are trying to embrace the new power. Then there is the resistance which is trying to defend and protect our humanity. Whichever side you choose, you will need to move in the real world and do quests. I find this idea quite fun, to be honest, and it can really help you explore a new neighborhood with ease. It’s like a game made right from the best map apps for Android and it works. The only thing you have to worry about is running into walls while playing this game. Free Version
3. Defenders
Defenders is one of the most beautiful tower defense games on Android. A lot of people really enjoy playing tower defense games as they are very accessible and yet exciting at the same time. I am also a huge fan of tower defense games and have clocked a lot of hours playing them. Tower defense games are the perfect games to play during work hours, just don’t tell my boss, though. They can be easily paused and resumed when needed which makes them a great companion for classes as well. Defenders is a robust tower defense game with great looking 3-D graphics and truly amazing effects. There are over 26 towers which you can deploy in the game. That’s not all there are 25 levels of upgrades which can be applied to those towers and 13 kinds of spells that you can cast. The game also features 36 types of different monsters you need to slay and mighty bosses with special abilities. Paid Version
4. Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter HD
Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter HD is a fine example of what we call an HD remake. A lot of old-school games are getting HD makeovers these days and it is common to see them on consoles. Those classical gems deserve the HD treatment and the praise of young audiences. This title here is very close to my heart because it was one of the first video games I played on my gaming PC back in the days. I distinctly remember long summer days and Carnivores. The game truly captures the feeling of hunting even though it is hunting dinosaurs. There is a true sense of danger while playing this game and a really rewarding gameplay. You go on a hunt, track the dinosaurs quite realistically and then take the shot. This is not about pumping dinosaurs full of lead, it is more about hunting than fending off against dinosaurs. You will have limited ammunition and you will need to make every shot count. The game should be on the best hunting games for Android list as well. Free Version
Conclusion
Here’s the thing, almost any new game that is coming out is in HD. Yes, every modern graphical engine can output really amazing HD textures for almost any videogame. Unity, Unreal Engine 4, CryEngine and even Havok Vision Engine are now capable of giving 4K performances. Technically there is no need to actively search for HD video games on the Google play store. Almost 99% of the games you download will run on the native resolution your device offers. These are exciting times to be an Android gamer and I am sure glad to be one.
